Poem about Ruby my rat

She dances in the moonlight till dawn,
and she has a crown made of thorns,
she spins with delight in the beat of the drum.
she taps her paws on a small log and twirls around
She faces the cat with a loud fearful scorn.
The cat turns round and flees
Ruby with soft dancing paws
falls asleep on her bed of straw,
From a barn she has lived in for years,
She turns out the light and says a big
Goodnight.

In Maori
kanikani ana ia i roto i te atarau noa ata ,
a kua ia he karauna i hanga o tataramoa ,
huringa ia ki ahuareka i te patuki o te drum .
kōrere ia ona ringaringa i runga i te raau iti , me te twirls a tawhio noa
anga ana ia te ngeru ki te tawai mataku nui .
Te ngeru tahuri tawhio me rere
Ruby ki ringaringa kanikani ngohengohe
taka moe i runga i tona moenga o te kakau witi ,
Mai i te whare witi kua noho ia i roto i mo tau ,
tahuri atu ia te marama , me te ta i te nui
Goodnight .

What a lovely poem about Ruby. She has certainly be a special pet and you have been an excellent caregiver for her. I hope she is feeling better soon. Grandma Lorna
