Animal Alliteration poem

Animal Alliteration Poem
Radical rats roll cheese keeping rats awake with rumbling.
Bats' binocular eyes beadily peer at beautiful butterflies.
Mourning moose munch on meadow grass while youngsters play,
Clucking chickens caterwaul to the best part of the roost.
Stinky stomping skunks stink predators as they stomp around.

A letter for yoobee

This is a letter that I wrote to a man who works at yoobee. it was fun there.
Carol our teacher in ICT went with me and said I had to write a letter and post it.
Dear Peter,
Thank you for letting us visit yoobee. It was fun getting to see what the students get to do. It was really fun. I shared the booklets with Ben and my friends. My class loved seeing them too and my teachers. The posters are amazing. Could I put the pictures on my blog so that my family can see them? Thank you so much. I hope to see you again and see yoobee again too.

Many thanks, Frida

My writing

This is my writing.
I have always wanted to write about shadows but I have never had time to do it.
I hope you like it and post heaps of comments onto my blog.

SHADOWS
Shadows can be gentle, soft or smooth.
They can be wicked, nasty and rough.
They can be scary or nice.
If you have a shadow
then make sure you take good care of it.
Never ever look after another shadow.
Shadows can steal other shadows.
They hurt the dogs and tunt the cats.
Mice and rats try to hide but their shadows give them away.
Try to treat your shadow with care
or else he will be mean.
Your shadow’s behaviour depends on you
so treat your shadow with care.

Some simple instructions to look after your shadow:
  • Keep it out of the dust.
  • Do not bully others.
  • Do not run too fast.
  • Try to keep it cool.
  • Do not embarrass it.
  • Keep it clean.
  • Do not mingle with other shadows.
  • Do not feed your shadow anything you don’t like.

The most amazing book

This is the book that I have been reading. It is called Summer and Bird. I started on the 19th of july and I still do not know when I will finish. It is a great book, if I were to give it a rating on a 5 to 10 scale it would be 10 star rating.

It is called Summer and Bird. Summer is 11 and Bird is 9. Bird's wish she would be the bird queen someday, and that wish will come true because she does not know that her mother is the bird queen. Summer's wish is that her little sister would come back because she ran away to be the bird queen.

Dynamic Thinking

Dynamic Thinking

This is my sheet I did Dynamic Thinking. It was hard and easy because it was a new shape but I had practised before.
Our class has people who need help with their work and people who rush through their work and people who just calmly do their work and take their time. When you be impulsive and fast you muck up but is you go accurate and precise you get better and better because you
 are being slow .
Go to this new website to get more DT IS AWESOME.

My ratatouille based art

Art
This is my art I drew at my art class. It is based on ratatouille the movie. This art has a rat walking with an umbrella in its paws. the background is Paris.

To go to my art teacher's website click this link ART. This artist did a 100 native NZ bird art challenge. Her name is Katrina. Katrina lives in rolleston and is a very amazing art teacher. Katrina works at a art gallery called expoz art. I get to go there and have my art lesson in the art gallery with 3 other students.

Art and mixing colours

This is my art that I drew to show mixing colours.

I mixed the dark blue into the light blue,
the light blue into the silver, the silver into the white.

Then I mixed the indigo into the dark green,
the dark green into the light green and then the light green into the white. The other colours are for decoration.

This art is called the Fibonacci Sequence.
The Fibonacci Sequence is math, it goes : 1,1,2,3,5,8 and so on.
For e.g it goes 1 + 1 = 2, 1 + 2 = 3 and so on.

For more, go to  Fibonacci Sequence.

Art in Dynamic Thinking

Art
For the first thing I will tell you is what dynamic thinking is, here are some answers to that :

1. In our dynamic thinking group we figure out what and how our brain works,(it's really cool).

2. Our fantastic teacher who lets us do this is kind and is teaching us how to use our brains to figure out problems that look like they are impossible.

3. We have learnt not to be impulsive and fast and to be slow and accurate when you are finding things, because if you rush you will make mistakes.

But lets do no more of that but if you want to find out more here is a link : http://www.worldvillage.com/dynamic-thinking-dont-think-you-already-know-what-that-is/

Here is some symmetrical art I have done.

My art is symmetrical because you can fold it one way but not another, if you fold it that one way than it is the same on both sides.

Longfin eel story about two eels called Sasha and Milly

This is a story that I wrote in writing when we had to write eel stories. All the photos are from Google Draw that I drew myself and one reason I wrote this story is because I love the enjoyment of writing a book for kids younger than me. To be a good writer you have to put your ideas down and then start writing, you can also just make up an animal and write about it! (It does not need to be big or small, the story).

Longfin Eel Diagram

Longfin Eel diagram,
This is my diagram that I drew on Google Drawing. Our class has been studying endangered species. I chose the longfin Eel.

We had to draw the eel and label it. I had to think about all the facts I have learnt about in class and check that the spelling was right. The labels had to make sense and not be too big or small. All the writing had to be the same size and colour and font.

Google Drawing was really cool and I would probably use it again.

A Poem about how nature changes. By Frida

With a single water drop that twinkles in the dawn,
Where a single bird calls from high in the tree,
And frost covers the ground,
The wind howls a song into the cool night air.

A soft blow picks up the clouds and batters them far to the north.

A deer walks past and leaves fresh tracks,
A small baby deer bounces behind and bonks into his mother.
She grunts and walks a little faster.
Its close to winter now so the deer are traveling the chipmunks are Finding nuts and the birds are flying.

After a long snowy winter the first bird calls and that seems to wake Everything up the chipmunks yawn their cute little yawns. a goose Is back thats meaning the birds are flying back, the deer are back Grazing on sweet summer grass and the chickadees are going " Chickadee dee dee " as the moose fall asleep,
The wolves are Tired and hungry as they try to hunt and the stags Are showing off. The small young fawn is now a stag and has a group of girl deer. They follow him up into the vast and vanish from sight. His mother Calls and stumbles down till she is under a tree. A hawk comes Flying over head and follows a hare that hides. I hope that when the Winter comes the birds will fly and the deer will make their Migration, and the chipmunks will hibernate again.

The End.

A Kiwi report

Kiwi's

The kiwi is a famous bird in NZ, we are called kiwis so we want to save this Endangered species. It is national to NZ.

Habitat
Kiwis are nocturnal it means they are only awake at night. they would almost always sleep in a borrow that they have dug or a hollow tree.

What they eat
Kiwis eat a lot because they have a diet and have to eat like all creatures do. Here are some of the foods : worms, seeds, grubs, small crayfish, small eels, fruit, insects and spiders. All this food comes from the forest floor.

What they look like.
Kiwi are flightless birds, they cannot fly. The females are larger than the males and there are only 68,000 left. They are the only bird that has a long beak with nostrils at the very top of their beak. They are endangered. There are 4 species of kiwi 1. Great Spotted 2. Brown 3. White 4. Little spotted. They are related to the Emu bird and have feathers like hair. They are native to NZ.

Babies
The eggs are six times larger than the kiwi and takes up 3 thirds of their body. The chicks get fed the white of the egg for a few days before they hatch. Brown kiwi are faster breeders than any other kiwi. Kiwi mate for life and can live up to 40 yrs old.

Extra
We lose 20 kiwi every week because of these predators : dogs, stoats, ferrets, cats, rats. Kiwis use their feet to fight not their beaks. they are fast movers. The males call is a high  screeching , and the females is a lower booming sound.

The kiwi is very rare - this means we need to save them ( Quick! ) A few ways to save them : we can donate money to the kiwis. we can keep pets on leads, inside , in a cage or away from kiwi.!

Poem about Ruby my rat

She dances in the moonlight till dawn,
and she has a crown made of thorns,
she spins with delight in the beat of the drum.
she taps her paws on a small log and twirls around
She faces the cat with a loud fearful scorn.
The cat turns round and flees
Ruby with soft dancing paws
falls asleep on her bed of straw,
From a barn she has lived in for years,
She turns out the light and says a big
Goodnight.

In Maori
kanikani ana ia i roto i te atarau noa ata ,
a kua ia he karauna i hanga o tataramoa ,
huringa ia ki ahuareka i te patuki o te drum .
kōrere ia ona ringaringa i runga i te raau iti , me te twirls a tawhio noa
anga ana ia te ngeru ki te tawai mataku nui .
Te ngeru tahuri tawhio me rere
Ruby ki ringaringa kanikani ngohengohe
taka moe i runga i tona moenga o te kakau witi ,
Mai i te whare witi kua noho ia i roto i mo tau ,
tahuri atu ia te marama , me te ta i te nui
Goodnight .

WILD IMAGINATION

I have been seeing birds. You may think its random and it is, but listen here this is not any bird its a Dinosaur !

I really hope you are going to listen to this cool story.
Once I saw a dinosaur plodding through our back yard. A 5 acre property was not at all a place for a over - sized dinosaur / bird. How could I tell if it was coming at me or not but I felt like an adventure for once so that's how I got pulled out of Canada and into New Zealand. That dino was big!

Was it a dinosaur or was it a bird?
I looked on the internet, and found the Archaeopteryx. This dinosaur lived in the Jurassic era.

Kaikoura story about the beach

Kaikoura

The waves washed at my feet as I ran along the beach . Soft wind brought sea spray and washed it into my hair. I did not care because I felt free and promising. Grey gulls called and searched for fish in the sea as they flew. I felt free as I ran. I could feel wind battering my hair as I ran alongside the birds. Seals swam beside me as I tumbled into the sea I laughed I knew nature was my great hero. The sea was cold as I swam with the dolphins , then back to shore.I waved my good by to the dolphins and they waved back. By the time I was back at the bach my heart was bursting with happiness.

My first egg

Hi I am Frida

This is a photo of me with the first egg from my 4 and a half month old chick that I raised.
Her name is Owl. Hopefully tomorrow I will get more eggs because I have four chicks. I love poached eggs on toast because my chickens lay the eggs. I like sitting in the hay bales with my chickens and feeding them oats from the pony's feed bin.
